Kris Meeke will not see the finish of the Sardinia Rally. His Citroën C3 WRC is too damaged to restart in Rally 2.

Sardinia Rally finished for Kris Meeke

Kris Meeke experienced a new abandonment at Rally from Sardinia. While leading the Italian event, the Citroën driver went off the road on SS5 and ended up rolling. The Briton was able to restart after losing 7 minutes in the incident and returned to the stage service park.

However, Citroën Racing mechanics will not be able to return the C3 WRC of Kris Meeke in condition so that he can restart in Rally 2, the rollbar having been damaged in the accident. The Briton, whose only victory this season in Mexico was almost lost by an accident in the Power Stage, suffers from another weekend without points.

With the abandonment of Craig Breen At the end of SS3 following an oil leak from the gearbox, Citroën Racing must now count on Andreas Mikkelsen who replaces Stéphane Lefebvre as wildcard. The former Volkswagen driver is in 8th place and is taking the time to find his bearings at the wheel of this new WRC that he is discovering in competition.
