After the icy asphalt of Rally Monte-Carlo and the heavy snow of the Swedish Rally, head to Kenya for the muddy and sandy roads of the Safari Rally! The third stage of the 2024 season of WRC is going to Africa for the one and only time of the year, for an event that promises to be spectacular again! Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) was the first to come to the fore this Wednesday.

First late by 0,9s on Ott Tänak (Hyundai) after his first pass during the 5,40 km warm-up around Loldia, the Finn achieved the best time during his second and penultimate pass, thus securing first place in the ranking ahead of the Hyundai i20 N of Neuville for two tenths. Ott Tänak (Hyundai) finished 1,4s further back, in third position.

Esapekka Lappi (Hyundai), winner of the Swedish Rally, trails his teammate Tänak by a tenth, ahead of Elfyn Evans (Toyota), fifth. Adrien fourmaux (M-Sport Ford) set the sixth fastest time at the wheel of his Puma. Behind him, we find Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) and Grégoire Munster (M-Sport Ford).

On the Rally2 side, Gus Greensmith, who narrowly missed hitting an animal crossing the path in front of him, beat his Toksport teammate Oliver Solberg by 1,2 seconds. Solberg and Nicolas Ciamin both experienced problems early in the session.

Solberg was lucky to escape with some cosmetic damage to the front of his Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 after going down an embankment, but Ciamin was forced to stop with damaged front suspension on his Hyundai i20 N Rally2.

See you at 12:05 p.m. (French time) this Thursday for the first special of this 2024 Kenya Rally.
