Rees expects victory from Solberg

Petter Solberg took his fourth podium at the Rally from Bulgaria, after chasing Dani Sordo who was driving an official C4. If the Norwegian failed to conquer second place, he nevertheless proved that he had the pace to place himself among the very first. “ There are six events remaining and we have proven our effectiveness on the asphalt. It won't be easy with Sébastien Loeb on asphalt (?), but there are still the gravel events that he likes, such as Finland, Japan and particularly Rally GB. Victory looks close and it will come in the next six races ».

Especially since Petter Solberg already has nothing left to prove with his 13 victories in WRC. However, the competitor cannot be satisfied with this record, and the replacement of his co-driver Phil Mills by Chris Patterson no longer seems to be an obstacle to his surprising progress since the start of the season. “ I thought their relationship would take the weekend to form but it actually happened after 10 kilometers in the first special ", commented Rees.

However, the private team must deal with a reduced budget compared to the manufacturers. “ The budget we need is never completely there. We scrape here and there what we can to finish the season. Results like this help us a lot but we have to maintain the level and that is not easy. Petter is working hard to raise funds but we'll keep our fingers crossed until the end of the season ».

The Norwegian is currently in fifth position behind the two Ford drivers, Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala, all three less than ten points behind. A 14th success would allow Solberg to progress to the Championship, passing the Finns, to catch up with the two Citroën official drivers.
