Withdrawal of suspended points and 10 euros fine for Ogier and Ingrassia

Defeats on the razor's edge by the Thierry Neuville-Nicolas Gilsoul crew (Hyundai) during the Rally from Sardinia on Sunday, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia (M-Sport Ford) ont appris quelques heures après l’arrivée qu’ils devraient s’acquitter d’a fine of 10 euros to the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

This decision is accompanied bya suspended 22-point suspension for the Drivers and Co-drivers championship, and 18 units for the Manufacturers classification. The n°1s thus keep the benefit of their second place.

The reason for this sanction? The French duo forgot to take the time card with them after the stop point for the 19th special on Sunday. It is Ott Tänak (Toyota) qui l’avait rapporté au regroupement de La Pedraia, quelques kilomètres plus loin.

In a press release, the commissioners of the World Rally Championship (WRC) explains this penalty. “The co-pilot (Julien Ingrassia) explained that he believed he had received the time book with a bottle of water given by the organization at the stop point on SS 19, and that it was completely their responsibility to have continued without checking properly. »

The college of commissioners also took into account various aspects of this oversight. « This is a human error without (the goal of) intentional cheating. This infraction had no effect on the performance of the car. »
