“I had so much fun driving this car on these stages”. Adrien fourmaux did not hide his enthusiasm yesterday at the arrival of the first stage of the Rally from Croatia.
The Frenchman, who debuts in the World Cup with the Ford Fiesta WRC, was able to combine prudence and performance to finish the first day in sixth place, and fulfilling the objectives set by M-Sport Ford.
“I'm so happy to say that I already have two top 5s, admits Fourmaux. This was one of my targets for the weekend, and it's great to see that we were able to achieve this on day one.
The SS are so difficult, with just one very thin line to follow and if you're a little early or a little wide you're straight into the dirt. I've made a few small mistakes like this, but I've also seen quite a few identical lines, so maybe I'm not the only one. »
We made good progress between the two passes and I hope we can do the same again today. » Enough to put the Frenchman ahead of his teammate Gus Greensmith, much more accustomed to driving the Ford Fiesta WRC, and seven seconds behind his teammate.
The management of M-Sport Ford thus highlights the performance of its protégé, who must alternate between WRC and WRC2 this season. « This is exactly the performance we expect from Adrien, and his enthusiasm at the finish of the special stages pushes the whole team, comments Team Principal Richard Millener. His pace is already about right, and it will only get better with more time behind the wheel. »
The objective is therefore clear for Adrien Fourmaux: to continue this good momentum this Saturday, for a second stage which can be followed live via our live-text.
