Hyundai Motorsport a confirmé que les débuts en compétition de sa i20 R5 se feront au Tour de Corse du 30 septembre au 2 octobre. Trois modèles seront engagés au Rally of 10 turns.

Stéphane Sarrazin and his co-driver Jacques-Julien Renucci, winners of the Tour de Corse in 2014 when the event counted for theERC, will be back, this time being registered at world level. Fabio Andolfi and Manuel Fenoli will make their debut in an R5 car as they compete in WRC3 this season. The latest model will be entrusted to Kevin Abbring co-driven by Seb Marshall, the Dutchman being the first test driver for the Korean brand's Customer Competition department.

“The Tour de Corse will be the most important event in the history of Hyundai Motorsport with the competitive debut of the i20 R5, confirmed Michel Nandan, the Team Principal of the Asian team. The creation of the Customer Competitions department was an important expansion for the company. For the first time, we will have six cars entered at the start of a rally. »

“By entering the R5 category of WRC2, we have targeted one of the most competitive categories in modern motorsport. We are still awaiting final confirmation of the car's homologation from the FIA due to the particularly tight timing, but preparations are well underway and we should be ready to race in France.", added Michel Nandan.
