Sébastien Loeb falls against Ogier

The winner of Rally of Germany seemed to have become obvious when Citroën Racing decided to give instructions to Sébastien Ogier to no longer attack Sébastien Loeb, the two drivers already having a significant lead from the first stage. But fate intervened and Sébastien Ogier finished the second day with a lead of more than a minute over his teammate. “There is justice in motorsport”, is content to affirm the new leader.

Sébastien Loeb was no longer attacked by his rival but the eight-time winner of the Rally Germany suffered a puncture in the last Panzerplatte special, the longest of the event with its 34 timed kilometers. The Alsatian is now 1:11:3 behind the leader of the event one stage from the end of the rally, where he has always won since its creation in 2002.

Dani Sordo (Mini) continues to be impressive behind the wheel of his Mini JCW WRC. The Spaniard still occupies third place with around thirty seconds ahead of Mikko Hirvonen (Ford). On the other hand, Kris Meeke (Mini) lost ground on the Flying Finn in the last special after damaging his left rear suspension.

Petter Solberg (Citroën) lost time on the Briton in the penultimate special of the day after having a puncture on his private DS3 WRC. But the Norwegian, who no longer had a spare wheel following a previous puncture, was still able to come back to within 9 seconds of the Briton.

Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford) continues his nightmare series by retiring following a road trip on SS13. As for the Frenchman Pierre Campana, who is taking part in his first WRC rally with a Mini JCW from the Drive Pro team, the Bastiais finished the second stage in a mediocre 20th position after having been bothered from the start by brake problems. His puncture in Panzerplatte six kilometers from the finish caused him to lose another six minutes from the lead of the race.

In the final stage, Sébastien Loeb will only have 76,31 timed kilometers spread over five special stages to try to catch up with Sébastien Ogier.
