All that was missing was confirmation. As announced, Sébastien Loeb will make a comeback WRC au Rally from the Acropolis from September 8 to 11 with M-Sport. With Monte Carlo, Portugal and Kenya, Greece will therefore be the 4th event for the Habs this season with Isabelle Galmiche. Already winner of this rally 3 times (2005, 2008 and 2011), the nine-time world champion will try to add a new line to his already very well-stocked list of achievements and is aiming for his second victory of the season after the inaugural round of the championship .

With an à la carte program at M-Sport this season, Sébastien Loeb had not announced his next event after his last WRC appearance in Kenya. The nine-time world champion had left doubts lingering but the call of competition was too strong. But if he has already triumphed on the Mediterranean side three times, he will have a lot to do this year. Between an ultra-dominant Kalle Rovanperä who is almost already promised the world crown and Ott Tänak which already has two rallies under its belt this season (Sardinia and Finland).

Soon the Loeb – Ogier reunion?

In addition to the first two drivers in the standings this season, another big name in Rallying could join the battle. Sébastien Ogier has not yet made his choice between New Zealand and Greece. The French pilot has so far only confirmed his presence in Japan from November 10-13. But the opportunity to face Sébastien Loeb for the fourth time this season could force the hand of the eight-time world champion.

So far, Sébastien Loeb's 2022 season is looking like a roller coaster. It all got off to a flying start with a victory in Monte Carlo. Imperial, the nine-time world champion had beaten Sébastien Ogier. But the top step of the podium, the M-Sport driver has not seen since. Whether in Portugal or Kenya, two incidents compromised his chances of victory. If his first retirement came from a collision in the 5th special of the Rally of Portugal, on the Safari Rally, it was an engine problem in SS4 that left him on the side of the road. So will Sébastien Loeb be able to find success again? Response on September 8 in Greece.
