Sébastien Loeb reconquering Germany

Next weekend, after six events on gravel, Sébastien Loeb will find its favorite surface: asphalt. Since its creation in 2002, the Rally of Germany has only known two winners, only Sébastien Ogier managed to beat the eight-time world rally champion on the roads around Trier.

« It is often said that it is my home, because it was indeed the closest rally to my native Alsace at the time when the Tour de Corse was still on the calendar., explains Loeb. I like this event, because there are always a lot of friends who are there to support me... and also because I have won it eight times. I don't find it easy though, especially in case of rain. Mud brought into the trajectory causes radical changes in grip which can be difficult to manage on such narrow and fast roads. »

Second in 2011, Sébastien Loeb returned to the circumstances of the end of his victorious streak across the Rhine and explained the work that has been carried out since. “ Last year, I was on course to win, but I was unsuccessful by having a puncture on the straight. Since then, Michelin has responded well by introducing new tires with a stiffer casing. At the beginning of July, we devoted a good part of our tests to adapting the ground connections to this development. I am satisfied with the progress made. We risk being a little less efficient on the bumpy parts, but it will be the same for everyone. »
