Sébastien Ogier at the top in WRC

Sébastien Ogier (Citroen C4 WRC) was impeccable this weekend in Portugal, from the first to the last special, allowing him to win for the first time in the WRC. “ I am very happy, confides the Gapençais. It’s a great moment for us, for the whole team. This is the reward for the efforts we have made over the past year. A year ago, here, we were not in a very good position. Since then, we have clarified things. It bore fruit. »

For his 26th rally in the WRC, the Ogier-Ingrassia crew placed itself at the top, keeping the lead in the rally, almost from start to finish. A first victory that comes quickly. “ I can't say that I really expected it. I repeat, I had not become fixated on it. I preferred to tell myself that we had to continue like this and that, naturally, she would arrive. It arrives quickly, so much the better. »

Even if, until now, the Citroën Junior Team driver did not want to put the pressure of victory on his shoulders, he recognizes that he has great ambitions. “ Since I started rallying, the goal is not even victory in a rally but to be World Champion. So it goes through that. This is one more step taken. Now we are getting closer to the ultimate goal, which is the hardest to achieve. It gives a lot of confidence and it proves that we are on the right track and that we must not stop there. »
