There was no 10th victory for Sébastien Ogier on the Rally Monte-Carlo in 2024. The driver from Gap nevertheless did his best to counter the onslaughts of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), in vain.

The eight-time world rally champion (WRC) showed himself to be a good player on the heights of the Col de Turini, where the finish of this 92 edition of the winter rally was judged. “It remains a good race for us. Thierry deserves his victory, he was very strong. There is nothing to say about that. I'm still happy to bring back 24 points for the team, which is a very positive result. »

Sébastien Ogier experienced a particularly difficult week on a personal level, with the sudden death of a member of his family. “I'm glad it's over, he kindly declared at the microphone of Canal+. As you can see, it was a difficult week for me.

Losing the one who gave me everything, taught me everything in the beginning (of his career. Editor’s note) and allowed me to get my first foot in the world of motorsport, was a very difficult moment, and so sudden, that I thought twice before starting the rally, to be honest. I tried to be professional to the end and to be there for the team, but the emotions were difficult to manage. »

A great way to open the 2024 season! Perhaps the year where a Hyundai driver can finally be crowned world champion...
