Sébastien Ogier: “The pressure is not on me. »

Sébastien Ogier made an almost perfect start to the season. Two events already contested and two victories in Rally Monte-Carlo, and especially in Sweden last February, at the end of a magnificent three-way fight with the Hyundai i20 Thierry Neuville and the Volkswagen Polo R of his teammate Andreas Mikkelsen.

The reigning world champion will appear on Thursday at the Rally Mexico, third round of the WRC 2015, as a double outgoing winner and with a liberated spirit. “The pressure is certainly not on me, but on the drivers behind me in the championship, explains the Frenchman. As a driver you gain extra confidence when you win a battle as close as the one between Andreas Mikkelsen, Thierry Neuville and me in Sweden. The last two events in Mexico showed how comfortable I feel there. And over the past few years, our Volkswagen Polo R WRC has always performed well despite the thin air at altitude. We can only wait and see if the same will be true in 2015.”

Facing Ogier, Jari-Matti Latvala will want to forget their Scandinavian misadventures to reduce the gap in the rankings. “With my 4th place in the championship, I have an ideal starting position, admits the Finn. This position could be decisive for the first dirt event of the year. Did I lose points in Sweden? I can't afford to make any more mistakes. »

The Rally of Mexico will be followed on our website.
