After participating in the rookie test in Bahrain last weekend, Sébastien Ogier confirmed his presence at Rally of Monte-Carlo, from January 20 to 23. The seven-time world champion, still in the fight with Elfyn Evans for the title of champion WRC this season, has not yet revealed its entire partial program for 2022. After the final round in Monza (next November 18-21), Sébastien Ogier will carry out first tests with the GR Yaris WRC Rally1 model which he will drive. next season.
On the official WRC website, Sébastien Ogier shared his joy at the idea of participating in the Rally at home. “ We can clearly say that the team is counting on me for Monte-Carlo, this is something we can announce for next year. For the rest of the year, there are still a lot of decisions to make, and the good thing is that the team is not pushing me too much.”
The Gapençais will share the GR Yaris WRC Rally1, a brand new hybrid car, with Esapekka Lappi. “ By having Esapekka Lappi with me, I think the team knows that it will have a very good driver. I don't want to talk about second option because I'm sure he can perform very well, so it's a chance we have at the moment. So far in the discussions we've had, the team has been really relaxed with me and kind of given me a chance to decide to do what I want, but of course at the same time I don’t want to be completely selfish.”
