Sébastien Ogier moves closer to record success at Monte-Carlo

In delicate grip conditions this Sunday morning, Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) maintained its lead at the top of the Rally Monte Carlo, opening of WRC 2021, two stages from the finish.

Author of the scratch in SS11, the reigning world champion increased his lead to 21″ over his teammate and rival Elfyn Evans, before losing 1″3 to the Welshman in the following sector, dominated by Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), which will serve as a Power Stage at midday.

Nothing to disturb the Frenchman, at the head of a 19″7 mattress before the final loop. The main change of the morning concerning the fight for third place, since, victim of a puncture in SS11, Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) let Thierry Neuville take the third step of the provisional podium.

With the gap now set at more than a minute before the last loop, the Finn will probably not be able to complete a Toyota hat-trick on a regular basis.

Dani Sordo (Hyundai) remains in fifth place ahead of Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota). Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) is in seventh position and still dominates the WRC2 ahead Adrien fourmaux (Ford Fiesta Rally2) and Eric Camilli (Citroën C3 Rally2). Yohan Rossel (Citroën C3 Rally2) retains control of the WRC3 category.
