Sébastien Ogier gets closer to success

Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) did not tempt the devil at the Tour de Corse with the arrival of rain in the second passage of Novella-Pietralba (SS8), but the three-time world champion nevertheless retained a lead of 46 seconds over his opponent direct Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) qui devrait lui être suffisante pour assurer la victoire à la régulière.

The Belgian maintained a strong pace this afternoon to prevent Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) from taking second place. His strategy worked since the 2013 vice-champion returned to the Bastia service park with more than 21 seconds ahead of the Norwegian.

Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) remains in fourth position half a minute from the provisional podium, the Finn still in difficulty on his Polo R WRC. The Volkswagen driver could even be threatened by Craig Breen (Citroën) who continues to achieve impressive times for his debut on asphalt with a WRC since the Irishman is only 23 seconds from the top five.

Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) still occupies sixth place, but the New Zealander is now ahead of his much more efficient teammate Dani Sordo in this stage. The Spaniard regained the advantage over Éric Camilli (Ford) who still maintains almost a minute ahead of his teammate Mads Ostberg.

Elfyn Evans (Ford Fiesta R5) completes the top ten, remaining in the lead of WRC 2. The Welshman increased his lead over Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5) to more than half a minute. Yoann Bonato (DS 3 R5) is no longer worried by Kevin Abbring (Hyundai i20 R5) who stopped on SS7.

In JWRC, Yohan Rossel regained the advantage over Lurent Pellier who is 15 seconds behind his compatriot. Martin Koci completes the top three in the category.

The last stage of the Tour de Corse, which will consist of 64km timed spread over two special stages, will begin at 8:58 a.m. and will be followed live with our live text.
