Sébastien Ogier followed “his line of conduct”

His second consecutive success in Germany, on the land of his employer Volkswagen, Sébastien Ogier has been waiting for him since last February and a victory on the snowy tracks of Sweden. Since then, the dirt events have not allowed the three-time world champion to climb to the highest step of the podium, penalized by his position as opener.

Before the German event, the Frenchman had announced, he finally had a chance of winning on a regular basis. A performance accomplished last Sunday, at the end of a controlled race, and where the Volkswagen driver did not take all the risks from the start.

“I had set myself a course of action: do not succumb to the temptation of wanting to do too much straight away to compensate for all the frustration accumulated over the last few months, confided Ogier. Not that I was certain of widening the gap in Baumholder, but in any case, I hoped so. So in the Friday times, traced in the vineyards, and often stained with earth, I made sure to stay away from problems... and from the sidewalks too! »

In the end, the Frenchman actually took advantage of the Panzerplatte sector, to give himself a sufficient lead to control the last part of the rally and Hyundai i20 by Dani Sordo and Thierry Neuville.
