Smeets sees Loeb winning in France

Sébastien Loeb was behind during the last Rally from Japan. But it should be noted that he does not like this event and that he is more comfortable on asphalt than on impassable dirt roads. His fifth position at the finish contrasted with his imposing victory in the previous Rally Germany. The six-time World Champion will arrive on his land, close to the Trier event, where he hopes to be crowned in front of his home crowd, in the village where the Champion grew up.

Sven Smeets is already thinking of the excitement that a victory for Sébastien Loeb would produce, a first place assured him of the title. He is confident that such a result will be able to be sustained, despite all the pressure put on the shoulders of the Citroën driver. “ We saw in Bulgaria, a brand new rally, that Sébastien is slightly ahead of everyone », declared Smeets, who highlights the exceptional abilities of Sébastien Loeb on the asphalt. “ We knew he could do the same in Germany and that's exactly what happened with a dominant victory. I also expect him at the front for the fight for victory in France because his skills on the asphalt are so superb. »

If all eyes will be on the possible future seven-time World Champion, Sven Smeets thinks that this will not influence the Frenchman's abilities. “ The rally will end in Sébastien Loeb's hometown and spectators will expect him to win the rally. He will have a lot of pressure but I don't think he will suffer it. In reality, we, the team, have the most. Sébastien is always so relaxed. »
