Solberg into the unknown on German asphalt

With Sébastien Loeb, Petter Solberg is one of the most experienced drivers in Germany having participated in all editions since the launch of the event in 2002. Official Ford driver since the start of the year, the Norwegian has only completed A rally with the Ford Fiesta RS WRC on asphalt and is looking forward to seeing the progress made on the surface since the Monte-Carlo Rally.

« I really like the German rally. It's always a fantastic event with a great atmosphere and lots of fans, explains Solberg. It will be interesting to return to asphalt for the first time since Monte-Carlo. I don't have much experience on this surface yet with the Fiesta RS WRC, but the general feeling is good, so it will be interesting to see our position in Germany. »

Last year, Petter Solberg suffered several punctures while driving a Citroën DS3 WRC for the Peter Solberg World Rally Team. This year, the Norwegian will try to avoid the pitfalls of this ninth event of the WRC season. “ With the vineyards and its military zone, the Germany Rally is not like other asphalt events, he adds. The biggest challenges are the changes in surface and grip, but also the passage of Baumholder with his hinkelsteins (huge concrete blocks that line the roads, editor's note) is particularly delicate, especially when it rains! The key is to stay away from problems and we'll see what happens. »
