Solberg: “The best chance”

Petter Solberg hopes now that he has made his choice in favor of the Citroën C4 WRC, that he will be able to fight at the forefront during the Rallies of Spain and Great Britain. Even if he has not yet tried it on asphalt, the Norwegian is convinced that he has the car suited to the surface of the next WRC event. “ I will benchmark myself in Spain to know where I am, specifies the 2003 world champion for WRC.com. This will help us see what it will be possible to do for next year. But so far, the C4 has proven itself to be the car for rally the fastest on asphalt. »

The Norwegian will make his WRC debut with the C4, on a surface dominated by Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo over the past three years. Despite everything, the pilot does not fear the competition. “ I tell myself that we should never be afraid of what people say, says Solberg. It?s a bit like with the Xsara that I had this year. It was a 2005 specification car and everyone said I was crazy and that I could have tarnished my reputation but I proved otherwise. (?) It's certain that it will be difficult to beat Sébastien (Loeb) on asphalt, but with this car, I think I have the best chances since 2004. »

Despite everything, Petter Solberg remains preoccupied with finding sponsors, more worried about his finances than his ability to ride his new bike. “ All season with the Xsara, I felt pressure. It was very important for me to perform well. If I wasn't, I wouldn't find sponsors. »

For the Rally of Spain, the Norwegian hopes to be at the front and fight with the best, even if he does not have the experience of the C4 that Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo have. “ I will be there to fight in front, at least I hope so. If I managed to be at the front in Finland with an Xsara, then what do you think I would be able to do if all goes well... »
