Sordo will not be on the trip to Australia

While Hyundai lost an important opportunity to catch up with the score Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia in the driver rankings (Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul are at 38 points with two rallies remaining) and teams (83 units behind M-Sport), the South Korean brand has revealed the identity of its three musketeers for the rally from Australia (November 16-19). For this final meeting of the season, Dani Sordo and Marc Marti will not be traveling. The Spanish duo, currently 5th overall with 94 points, will end their year at the next Rally of Great Britain (October 26-29).

For Michel Nandan, Hyundai team principal, this decision has nothing to do with the performance of the number 6. “The complexity of the logistics for sending the cars to Australia means that we cannot assume the presence of four cars. This would obviously have been the best solution. We want to finish the year as competitively as possible, in order to lay solid foundations for 2018.", he explained.

Sordo-Marti's best performances this season are two podiums, acquired on the asphalt of the Tour de Corse (3rd) and the dirt of Portugal (3rd), and abandoned during the Catalonia rally On the other side of the world, Neuville-Gilsoul, Paddon-Marshall and Mikkelsen-Jaeger will therefore defend the colors of Hyundai.
