Sordo remains under threat from Loeb at Rally Mexico

Dani Sordo concluded the first stage of Rally Mexico by maintaining a lead of a few seconds over Sébastien Loeb. Jari-Matti Latvala dropped out.

Sordo remains under threat from Loeb at Rally Mexico

Dani Sordo (Hyundai) maintained a lead of seven seconds over Sébastien Loeb au Rally from Mexico. The leader of the event completed the two passages of the Autodromo de Leon super special which concluded the first stage, representing 4,6km timed in total, maintaining the advantage over Sébastien Loeb (Citroën).

The nine-time champion of WRC took another seven tenths from the Hyundai driver to maintain second place, 7” behind the i2 WRC. The Frenchman remains under pressure in particularOtt Tänak which is less than four seconds behind the C3 WRC and more than a dozen seconds ahead of the second Citroën of Kris Meeke.

The Northern Irishman must maintain a high pace since Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) follows five seconds behind, closely followed by Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai).

Despite a difficult day where he was particularly plagued by mechanical problems, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) occupies seventh place, being isolated in the ranking. The Championship leader regained a position following the retirement of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) who had to dismount at the end of SS8 due to an alternator problem.

Pontus Tidemand (Skoda) is solid leader of the WRC, more than three minutes ahead of Gus Greensmith (Ford). Pedro Heller (Ford) completes the provisional podium in the category.

The second stage of the Rally Mexico will begin this Saturday at 15:33 p.m. Paris time with the 30,97km Guanajuatito.
