Stéphane Sarrazin launches his team

Stéphane Sarrazin launched his own motorsport team, Sarrazin Motorsport. The resident of Toyota Gazoo Racing 24 Hours of Le Mans and pilot of the Venturi GP in Formula e will defend the colors of its new structure at the Tour de Corse where it will be registered in WRC 2 this week behind the wheel of a Skoda Fabia R5.

“I've been thinking about creating my team for a while now., recognized Stéphane Sarrazin. The desire was strong to launch Sarrazin Motorsport and I am happy that it has come to fruition today. Several parameters had to be met, this is now the case and I have the feeling that it is the right time. My career as a driver has allowed me to learn a lot at all levels, both through my racing commitments and in the development carried out for manufacturers and teams. Recent participations in rally only confirmed my wish. »

“They also allowed me to see new things since I was more involved in the genesis of these projects, beyond my role as pilot. It's an important moment in my career. The program with Toyota Gazoo Racing is my priority, as well as with Venturi GP in Formula E, but I'm able to do both in parallel and it's fantastic. 2017 is shaping up to be a great year”, added Stéphane Sarrazin.

Sarrazin Motorsport will initially hire its boss-driver before other competitors join the adventure. The French team will focus on rally programs rather than circuits by having two Skoda Fabia R5s and a Hyundai i20 R5. Arnaud Maurier will be the technical director. KCMG, Michelin and Oreca Store will be the team's main partners.

“Starting at the Tour de Corse is both a nice wink and a perfect way to show the team’s ambition. I won in Corsica (in 2014 on a Ford Fiesta RRC as part of theERC) and it remains a special memory, underlined Stéphane Sarrazin. It is also a legendary event, at the highest level, and in a very tough category. This is what the team must aim for. The question of the rally or the circuit logically arose. It made more sense in rallying, which is the perfect complement to my involvement on the circuit, and I have more elements in hand to this day. »

“Sarrazin Motorsport will have the necessary expertise, I have surrounded myself with high quality people and solid partners. This will allow us to support young drivers in their progress and in their quest for victories. The door to the circuit is not closed yet. Everything is open and the goal is clearly to develop over the months and years. We will grow level after level, with a certain wisdom but ambitions”, concluded Stéphane Sarrazin.
