Sweden: The WRC at an impasse?

At a time when the organizers of the Swedish Rally are seeking to promote their event themselves, fears are growing regarding the future of the WRC.

Le WRC seemed to be starting to recover from the withdrawal of North One Sport. Just one week before the season opener at Monte-Carlo, the FIA managed to find a solution to the urgency of the situation. Eurosport Events ensured the promotion of the return of the Monegasque event in the premier discipline of rally and there was already talk of a three-year contract with the WRC.

However, our latest information is very pessimistic. Our sources indicated that Eurosport Events has warned the organizers of the calendar events and local TV channels that it will not provide coverage of the Swedish Rally (February 9 to 12). The organizers of the Swedish round are currently working to find a solution to this impasse by trying to set up their own television production. The FIA should soon communicate on the organization of the remaining events in the 2012 Championship.
