Suninen: “My bosses asked me to adopt a better pace”

Ironically, this is when the World Rally Championship season (WRC) is put in parentheses that the campaign of Teemu Suninen (Ford) really begins. The Finn, lacking confidence and results this winter, registered his third podium in the discipline at the Rally Mexico.

« Je suis très content de ce que j’ai été capable d’accomplir ce week-end, et très fier aussi de ramener un bon résultat pour M-Sport, indicates the 26-year-old pilot. After Sweden (8th), things weren't really going well, and my bosses asked me to adopt a better pace! »

The event on the American continent therefore served as a test for Teemu Suninen; passed with honors. “I think I drove well this weekend, my co-driver Jarmo Lehtinen and I were able to be very consistent. Of course, it would have been nice to snatch second place, but Ott (Thank you) drove very well and we had some brake issues.

At least I think I demonstrated that the potential was there. » His boss Richard Millener agreed. “He had a tough start to the season, but we all knew what he was capable of. This third place is a result that will motivate him. He has completely recovered after disappointing rallies in Monte Carlo and Sweden. »
