Suninen: another approach this season

Teemu Suninen's program will begin this week with the Rally from Sweden where he will find the wheel of the Ford Fiesta WRC with which he took fourth place in his national event in Finland last year.

“We had a good test session in northern Sweden, it went very well. I haven't driven the Ford Fiesta WRC since last year's Rally Finland. These tests allowed me to find my bearings with the car and we are now ready for the start of the rally.”, comments Teemu Suninen.

“It would be fantastic to be able to fight for the podium again, adds the Finn. This may be a realistic goal, but we will have to put in an exemplary rally to achieve it. We are also going to have a different approach this year with eight events on the program. In 2017 we were only focused on our future and proving what we could do, but now we have to think about the team and scoring points in the Constructors' Championship. »

“No matter the conditions, the speed is always high in Sweden, specifies Teemu Suninen. On a rally as fast as this, seconds are always difficult to gain. We will have to be in the game from the first stage. »

Le Finlandais s’est suffisamment mis en valeur pour obtenir la confiance du patron de M-Sport Macolm Wilson qui l’a engagé sur huit épreuves du Championnat qui en comporte 13.

“This will be his first rally on snow in the Fiesta WRC, and only the third start of his career at this level. We can't expect too much from him, nuance Malcolm Wilson. But the Finns have always been fast here and I won't be surprised if he gets another good result. »

Teemu Suninen started the year by competing in the Monte-Carlo Rally in a Fiesta R5 with which he took third place in WRC 2 (18th in the general classification).
