Tänak: “We must now finish the job”

After two consecutive successes in Finland and Germany, Ott Tänak a connu un coup d’arrêt en Turquie en étant trahi par la mécanique de sa Toyota Yaris WRC.

Unlucky last year at Wales Rally GB when he broke his radiator while leading, Ott Tänak could win for the first time this year by taking advantage of the muddy conditions where his position will be rather advantageous on the road in the first stage.

“Wales Rally GB is always special, notes the championship leader. It’s a rally that I love. The roads are fast, but the conditions make the course difficult, especially with the changes in grip at each turn. You need to have confidence in your car on every rally, but it’s in these types of conditions that it makes a big difference. »

The Estonian must now manage his 17-point lead over Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) three rounds from the end of the season.

“The championship gap has closed, but we still have three events to go and we know we were fast in all of them last year. Now we have to finish the job, starting with Wales Rally GB.”, he adds.

Toyota Gazoo Racing est également sous pression au niveau du championnat Constructeurs, espérant combler son retard de 19 points face à Hyundai.
