Tänak: “We have to be intelligent”

Ott Tänak is on track to win the title. Two rounds from the end of the season, the driver Toyota is 28 points ahead of Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) after his new exploit at Wales Rally GB.

The Estonian will arrive at Rally this Catalonia with the aim of winning more points than his direct opponent, which would ensure him the coronation (and thus deprive Mads Ostberg of a place in the Australian Rally). However, he has only won the podium once in this mixed dirt – asphalt event, taking 3rd place in 2017.

“I will do my best as usual, but we have to be smart, comments the championship leader. We know that it could be complicated for us on the first day given that we will be first on the road in the gravel stages. The weather can also change things. We saw last year that we can frequently get rain in Spain at this time of year. »

“We should be competitive on both surfaces, specifies the Toyota driver. We were already fast in this event last year and that should be the case again this year and obtain the result we need. »

Ott Tänak has already won 6 victories this season in the space of 12 events.
