Tänak believes he learned a lot from his first season with Hyundai

Started by a spectacular but not serious exit from the road Rally Monte-Carlo, the 2020 seasonOtt Tänak did not allow the new recruit to Hyundai Motorsport to retain its crown acquired in 2019 with Toyota. A title synonymous with the end of French domination over the WRC, started in 2004 by Sébastien Loeb and extended by Sébastien Ogier.

With success on home soil in Estonia during the resumption of the World Championship after the forced break due to the coronvirus pandemic, and three second places, Tänak was however one of the cornerstones of the second world crown of brands for Hyundai.

“I am happy to be part of this team and to have taken part in this manufacturer's title, Tänak confessed before the start of the new year. I have been impressed by how everyone has responded to the very difficult challenge of the pandemic and this is the result of that hard work and determination. I'm looking forward to 2021 and I really want to get my title back. »

With only seven rounds, and an obvious lack of connection throughout the year in the face of periods of confinement, Tänak was unable to familiarize himself as he wanted with his new team, and intends to use the acquired knowledge of 2020 to come back stronger this season.

“The season was quite short, but we certainly learned a lot, took a lot of lessons. And now it is very important to put this into practice next year. »
