Tanak: “I have much better feelings than last year”

It couldn't have started better. Ott Tanak won the first two scratches of the Rally Monte-Carlo at the wheel of his Hyundai i20 WRC and finished the first day as a solid leader, despite difficult conditions.

“We were already used to starting the Monte-Carlo during the day with more constant conditions. The first time wasn't so bad, but the second time had a lot of mud. It’s always difficult to tackle these places because it’s always very demanding with a lot of surprises.”

After a disappointing 2020 season for his debut with Hyundai, the Estonian is feeling better. “Overall the car has a lot more stability than last year and I definitely have a much better feeling in the car. »

Tanak believes he can do even better. “In today's wet conditions we had really good grip, the performance seems good. In dirtier parts and mud, it's more complicated. There are things to still learn and gain experience. »
