Tänak: “I have the potential to do just as well”

Si Ott Tänak n’est pas parvenu à assurer le doublé à M-Sport au Rally Monte-Carlo en raison de problèmes mécaniques, l’Estonien a fait sensation en assurant le podium et en résistant à Dani Sordo (Hyundai) malgré des soucis moteur.

Motivated by this good result, Ott Tänak is confident going into Rally Sweden where he has finished in the top five since 2014, with a 4th place in 2015 as his best result.

“It's one of my favorite events and the speeds reached provide a lot of adrenaline. It will be even more special this year with the more powerful cars, commented the driver of the Ford Fiesta WRC. The special stages are pleasant to ride. You have to stay relaxed and focused while maintaining a good pace. I hope we get lots of snow and are in a position to fight at the front. »

“The most important thing is to be comfortable from the start. I'm crossing my fingers that the weather will work in our favor and that the snow banks will be beneficial to us, added Ott Tänak. The trajectory is very narrow, it is perhaps the most difficult part of the rally. You have to stay on the line if there is fresh snow because otherwise you completely lack grip. I can't wait to get back behind the wheel because I think I have the potential to do as well (as in Monte-Carlo). »

Ott Tänak occupies 3rd place in the Championship, 10 points behind his teammate Sébastien Ogier et à 3 unités de Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota).
