Thierry Neuville was the most energetic in the shakedown of the Rally Sweden ahead of Ott Tänak and Sébastien Ogier.

Thierry Neuville wins the Swedish Rally shakedown

The three main protagonists in the fight for the 2018 world title have taken the provisional first three places in the shakedown of the Rally of Sweden 2019, played this morning.

Winner on the Nordic slopes twelve months ago, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) set the pace, setting the best time on his third pass in 4'05 "0, 2″2 in front of the Toyota YarisOtt Tänak and 2″3 in front Sébastien Ogier (Citroen).

Everyone achieved their benchmark time during their final run, with Tänak and Ogier making four attempts, one more than the Hyundai Motorsport Belgian. Kris Meeke (Toyota) took 4th place, two tenths behind Ogier and ahead of the Ford Fiestas of Elfyn Evans and Teemu Suninen (M-Sport Ford).

Followed by Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) and Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai), pointed at 3″8 from his teammate Neuville. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota), in the lead after the first attempts, completes the top 10 ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai), Pontus Tidemand (M-Sport Ford) and Johan Kristoffersson.

The double World RX world champion takes his Volkswagen Polo R5 to the top of the category, just ahead of Kalle Rovenpera (Skoda), best time in WRC2 Pro.

For his return to competition, Marcus Grönholm, lined up in a Toyota Yaris alongside his usual co-driver Timo Rautianen, provisionally ranks 18th, almost 12″ behind Neuville.
