Toyota praises Kalle Rovanperä’s lucidity

Like the entire motorsport world, the WRC has been put on pause while our society can deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Unlike other flagship disciplines, the World Rally Championship had time to see three events run almost normally, despite the absence of ice in Sweden and a Rally of Mexico shortened, already due to the spread of the virus.

“I've been to all the practice sessions so far and I've been seriously impressed with the way he's approached them, especially the one to prepare for Mexico, comments Toyota Gazoo Racing technical director Tom Fowler on the WRC website.

His feedback was worthy of a pilot with ten years more experience and his objectives were perfectly lucid. He came wanting to get his bearings with the car in order to drive it to the finish […] He is obviously an exceptional driver and his start to the season underlines this. »

5th at the Monte-Carlo Rally without any major errors, 3rd in Sweden on terrain more to his liking and 5th again in Mexico for his first on gravel with the Yaris WRC. It's impossible to say that Kalle Rovanperä missed his debut with Toyota Gazoo Racing at the highest level in the world.
