The 2019 edition of Wales Rally GB (October 3-6) will not deny its fundamentals, but will still give room for something new. The route, unveiled on Wednesday May 22 by the organizers, includes 22 special events, spread over more than 320 km.
The start will be given for the first time in 20 years outside Wales, with a ceremony planned in Liverpool. The first special will be held on the Oulton Park circuit, known for hosting the British GT in particular. The route had not hosted the World Cup for 25 years. The choice of these two starting points was made in order to make the rally more easily accessible to the British.
The event will then return to Wales, with a course set in the northern forests and the presence of legendary names such as Dyfi, Myherin and Sweet Lamb Hafren. Saturday will end with a super special special at Colwyn Bay. The most anticipated addition by fans and crews may be the second passage in the Aberhirnant special on Friday evening, which will take place after sunset.

“Taking the rally to the heart of a big city like Liverpool (864 inhabitants in 122) is a great way to introduce our spot to a new audience, note le Gallois Elfyn Evans (M-Sport Ford). The rest of the event will be typical of Wales Rally GB, with long and demanding days. I am happy to see the return of night specials is part of the DNA of this rally. »
