A 2020 route in tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Rally Finland

It remains a legendary event on the calendar WRC. The 1000 Lakes, nickname of Rally from Finland, will celebrate its 2020th anniversary in 6 (August 9-70) with a route paying tribute to the historic places of the Nordic Channel.

Several changes are to be noted compared to the 2019 route, the 2020 edition comprising 24 special stages for just over 321 km against the clock.

The shakedown will take place on the usual Vesala course, before the opening SS on Thursday evening Harju. From Friday, route modifications appear with the morning passages in Laukaa and Ruuhimäki, which concluded the 2019 edition on Sunday.

In the afternoon of this first real stage, LlES de Humalamäki will make its comeback, which was a classic of the 70s and 80s. The Ässämäki section will be taken in the opposite direction compared to 2019, before that the Sahloinen-Moksi special, a traditional meeting between 1977 and 1993, certain passages of which were contested in the ES Moksi in recent years, is taken to conclude the loop to be covered twice.

On Saturday, the rally will return to a more classic backbone of recent seasons with ES Pihlajakoski, Päijälä and Kakaristo, before a brand new ES Arvaja. At the end of this loop to be completed twice, the competitors will line up at the start of the short ES Laajavuori, the former nerve center of the rally in Jyväskylä.

Last used in shakedown in 2014, this sector includes a passage on a ski slope. Sunday will see this route contested again as a Power Stage (and extended compared to the day before), following on from a double pass in Oittila, contested on Friday last year.
