A completely different Wales Rally GB in 2016 for Camilli

After the asphalt events in Germany, Corsica and Spain (mixed round), the peloton of WRC will find a rally contested entirely on gravel with Wales Rally GB (October 28-30).

The French driver will logically want to perform well in order to return the favor to the structure of Malcolm Wilson who has trusted him since the start of the season. “Wales Rally GB is a really special event for me, and it will be even more special this year as it is the home rally for my team. I really want to repay them with a good result next week. »

The Niçois, who is competing in his first full season in the premier category, will not be entering unfamiliar territory in Great Britain, but knows that it will take time to adapt with the Fiesta RS WRC.

“We have only raced in Wales once before, in WRC 2, but we were competitive from the start and came very close to victory. This year it will be completely different, but I'm looking forward to it and building on our performances on dirt earlier in the year.

The stages are really fast and smooth, and even in the wet grip levels can be surprisingly high. We will need to take some time to find out how a WRC behaves and reacts to conditions, but we always want to do our best. »

Forced to retire during his last outing on gravel in Finland, in a road accident, Camilli does not wish to set specific objectives in terms of performance. “The most important thing is to finish the rally, but if the felling is there it would be good to push the limits and see how far it takes us. »
