The Power Stage of Rally of Argentina 2017 offered a splendid duel for the final victory between Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Elfyn Evans (M-Sport). Ce dernier devait finalement échouer pour sept dixièmes face à son rival belge, avec notamment un léger contact contre un pont ayant sans doute fait perdre quelques précieux dixièmes au Gallois.
« It was a tough loss to swallow at that point., but it made us stronger and we hope to be able to fight for the best possible results again this year. » recognizes Evans before the start of the event scheduled for Thursday.
On a field where he scored his first podium, Elfyn Evans will also be able to count on the return of his usual co-driver Daniel Barritt, Phil Mills having taken over in Corsica, while Evans secured his first top 5 this season.
“It's fair to say I haven't had the best start to the championship, but we are determined to turn things around this week, advances the winner of Wales Rally GB 2017.
With a strong result in Corsica, and Dan by my side in Argentina, we are looking forward to the challenge and focused on achieving a strong result.
You have to take a fairly measured approach to a rally like this because there is very little margin for error. There is the possibility of something happening to you around almost every corner. So you need to have a clean rally and avoid mistakes. »
Elfyn Evans will once again line up in one of three Ford Fiesta M-Sports, alongside Teemu Suninen and Sébastien Ogier. The reigning world champion is also still running behind a first victory in Argentina, the only rally (with Turkey returning in 2018) on the calendar missing from their record.
