Veiby leaves Skoda and will finish the season with a Citroën C3 R5

Engaged since 2016 on the Skoda Fabia R5, Ole Christian Veiby had regularly defended the interests of Skoda Motorsport in WRC 2, notably securing a second position in Italy, and a third place in Sweden earlier in the season, after a victory under the Printsport banner in Poland in 2017.

But the beautiful story between the Norwegian and the Mlada Boleslav brand will come to an end, with Veiby competing in the Great Britain and Spain rallies with a Citroën C3 R5, which is beginning his career at the highest level. A return to his roots for the 22-year-old driver, who started in the World Cup with a DS3 R3T.

“As I have no chance of challenging for victory in the WRC 2 championship, now is the perfect time to move forward and try something different, underlines Veiby.

A podium at the championship is within reach. I will be named by the championship squad and will be able to score points in Wales and Spain. I've heard a lot of positive things about the C3 R5.

Tempestini finished second with the same car in Turkey last week, surely proving the car is competitive. It’s good for me to have experience behind the wheel in another car, even more so when I learn from a team that also competes in the WRC. »

Skoda Motorsport clinched the Teams WRC 2 title at the last Rally of Türkiye with the success of Jan Kopecky. The Czech structure will reveal its intentions for 2019 in the coming weeks, including its drivers.
