Volkswagen seeks German prodigy

Volkswagen announced its arrival in WRC from 2013. Kris Nissen would like to take the opportunity to find a talented German driver who can succeed Walter Rohrl, World Champion in 1980 and 1982.

« It would be fabulous to have a new Walter Rohrl in Germany », Comments the Volkswagen sporting director. “ But I emphasize that talent is more important than nationality in our eyes. We should make our decision on our pilots within the next twenty months. »

Kris Nissen assures that the choice of drivers will not be immediate and that Volkswagen will take the time to observe the situation. “ At the moment, we do not have any contracts with pilots. And there's no reason to rush. We take our time by quietly looking at the market. »
