Volkswagen has refined the details of its Polo R

“The opposition has not slept. » Despite the three world crowns won since 2013, Jost Capito, boss of Volkswagen Motorsport, does not want to take for granted the advantage gained by the German team in recent seasons over the competition and is wary of the work accomplished by VW's rivals.

For 2016, the engineers of the Motorsport division have refined numerous details on the WRC world champion, before the major regulatory upheaval which will take place in 2017.

“The changes to the Polo R WRC are essentially tweaks and improvements in detail to make the car even better, Capito specifies. You should keep in mind that the WRC regulations only allow a few modifications within a defined homologation period.

Thanks to this stability, it is possible to fight for the title for several years with an existing car, making improvements. This is precisely our objective for 2016." Volkswagen has therefore focused for 2016 on adjustments to the rear triangles and the front part of the chassis, as well as on the pistons of the engine block.

Note also the appearance on the front wings of white stripes on the livery of the Polo R WRC. Sébastien Ogier, Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen will still be the spearheads of VW from Rally Monte Carlo (January 21-24).
