Volkswagen won everything for its WRC debut

Volkswagen only needed a 7th place to be assured of the Manufacturers' title in the Rally of Spain after Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia won those for Drivers and Co-pilots in Alsace. The Wolfsburg manufacturer did not go into detail since it won the coronation by achieving a double at the end of the event mixing asphalt and dirt won by Sébastien Ogier winner ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala. By securing 9 successes in 12 events against Citroën Racing, the German brand is having a sensational season in WRC even if the absence of Sébastien Loeb was heavily detrimental to the Red team.

“To win all three world titles in one season is simply incredible.”, comments Jost Capito, director of Volkswagen Motorsport. “Given that this is our first season in the WRC with the Polo R WRC, this is a superb achievement. Winning the Drivers and Co-drivers world titles was already an unforgettable moment for the entire team. It was a dream come true for Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia, especially in their national event. But the Manufacturers' title is even more important for a manufacturer because it proves that it is not only the rider, but also the machine, that is exceptional. »
