WRC 2013 – Red Bull would become promoter

Since the start of the season, the World Rally Championship has taken place without a promoter, after the FIA decided at the end of 2011 to terminate its contract with the company North One Sport, which had been bought by the suspicious Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov to Neil Ducanson in January 2011.

Red Bull Media House, a subsidiary of the Red Bull group, was one of three contenders to act as promoter of the WRC with Eurosport and a South African investor. The announcement should be made during the next round of the world championship in Germany (August 22-26), but a meeting revealing this choice would have been held on July 31 between Jarmo Mahonen (President of the WRC Commission), Michèle Mouton (WRC Manager), teams and championship partners.
