Jari-Matti Latvala and Sébastien Ogier immediately began a duel for the lead of the race at Rally Germany.

WRC – Germany: Latvala and Ogier in a tenth

Jari-Matti Latvala is at the head of Rally of Germany at the end of the first passage of the first stage, but his lead over Sébastien Ogier is only a tenth at the end of the first four races contested. If the double world champion signed three scratches, the Finn took the advantage in Moselland (SS3). Andreas Mikkelsen completes the top three monopolized by Volkswagen, but the Norwegian is further back with almost 16 seconds behind.

Chris Meeke (Citroën) is the closest to the Polo R WRC since he is only 5 seconds behind the Scandinavian's Volkswagen. The Northern Irishman, however, scared himself by damaging a rim after hitting a curb. Dani sordo (Hyundai) completes the top five after gaining the advantage over his teammate Thierry Neuville who is 3 seconds behind the Spaniard.

Elfyn Evans lifts the first Ford to 7th place a few seconds behind the first Hyundai, ahead of the i2 WRC by 20 secondsHayden Paddon. Lacking rhythm, Mads ostberg (Citroën) is only in 9th position, one second ahead of Ott Tänak (Ford) victim of a road exit in the first special of the day.

Martin Prokop (Ford) climbed to 11th place in the 4th special with 3 seconds ahead of Stéphane Lefebvre who takes his first steps on a World Rally Car with the DS3 WRC.

Romain Dumas leads the way among the Porsche ahead of his compatriot Francois Delecour of more than two minutes.

Jan Kopecky (Skoda) is the WRC2 leader while his teammate Esapekka Lappi was the victim of a road accident. Armin Kremer (Skoda) and Craig Breen (Peugeot 208 T16) completes the provisional podium in the category ahead of the French Éric Camilli and Julien Maurin. Nasser Al-Attiyah (Skoda) lost more than a minute following a touch.

The crews will complete the second pass of the first stage from 14:40 p.m.
