WRC – Citroën must make up for it in Australia

The poor performance of Citroën Racing Rally of Germany last August cost 2nd place in the Manufacturers' Championship to the Reds who now find themselves 13 points behind Hyundai Motorsport. The French team will have to react this week at the Australian Rally where Kris Meeke and Mads Ostberg will return to a dirt surface.

« Our two crews retain the freedom to develop and manage their own racing strategy », underlined Yves Matton, director of Citroën Racing. “Mads and Kris are motivated, they are perfectly aware that they have real assets at their disposal and that all the conditions are in place to enable them to achieve good results. »

Mads Ostberg hopes to obtain a better result than his 15th place obtained during his last trip to Australia. “I have prepared myself perfectly for this event and I want to play the leading roles. I have already shown my speed in Australia, but this is the only gravel rally on the calendar in which I have not yet achieved a good result. The objective is therefore to progress compared to previous years and to fight for a podium?, explained the Norwegian who lived leaving the road for reconnaissance.

As for Kris Meeke, the Northern Irishman can hope to play at the forefront after missing the podium in this event last year by less than half a minute behind. “The idea is not to attack as much as possible. Above all, I must maintain the pace shown during the last rallies and avoid the slightest mistake. Also counting on my starting position the first two days, this should allow us to be in a good place?, underlined the Citroën driver.
