WRC – Elfyn Evans will replace Nasser Al-Attiyah in Sardinia

At the highest level for the first time. Elfyn Evans will make her debut in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in Italy. Young Welsh driver to replace Nasser Al-Attiyah at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta RS WRC in Qatar M-Sport WRT. First entered to race in Sardinia, the Qatari found himself obliged to give up because he would be held for other matters in his country that weekend. After his passage to Portugal in a Fiesta RRC, Elfyn Evans is preparing to once again defend the colors of M-Sport, this time aboard an RS. “This is another huge opportunity for me and I would like to thank Nasser very much. (Al-Attiyah, Editor’s note) and Malcolm (Wilson, M-Sport team principal) for thinking of me », declares the young pilot. “It’s going to be great to get behind the wheel in competition, but it will definitely be a challenge! It will also be my first time in Sardinia, my first time in a WRC car and my first with Giovanni Bernacchini”. Indeed, for this event, Evans will have as co-driver the one who normally officiates with Nasser Al-Attiyah. “I know I’m in good hands”, notes the Welshman in this regard.

Sincerely regretting the withdrawal of the Qatari, Malcom Wilson is positive thanks to his young driver: “Elfyn truly deserves this opportunity. He learns quickly and as he will continue to work alongside us for the rest of the season, this additional competition, this time aboard a Ford Fiesta RS WRC, will be extremely valuable.. After Italy, the winner of the 2012 WRC Academy will be enlisted again with M-Sport in WRC 2 in Finland, with the new Fiesta R5.
