WRC – Ingrassia far from convinced by Rally Poland

Julien Ingrassia gave his feelings to AFP regarding the return of Rally from Poland to WRC where the promoters celebrate its 71st edition. Before crossing Lithuania for four special stages, the reigning world champion co-driver put his finger on the flaws that slow down media coverage, the number one subject in the discipline which is struggling to get back on track. “Spending time on the road for nothing, with days of such length that no TV, no media, can cover the event, I find that completely beside the point and the antithesis of what we search today. The FIA doesn't really know what it wants: last year it said that the rallies should last four or five days, now it wants to reduce them to two and a half days. »

The Rally Poland nevertheless offers an interesting event with tight gaps at the head of the race since Andreas Mikkelsen is currently in the lead with only a second ahead of his teammate Sébastien Ogier. However, this characteristic could also be explained by a lack of variety on the course according to the Frenchman. “I am clearly convinced that this rally is a great event. But when the special stages are all straight in the middle of the fir trees, it has no interest. And it is not because we will have people in support of this city whose name I have forgotten (Druskininkai in Lithuania for the mid-stage of the second day) that this rally will be a success, because We will have driven 160 km to get there. » The deterioration of the roads which forced the organizers to cancel two of the four stages planned in Lithuania should not have changed the mind of the co-driver of the Championship leader.
