WRC – Jost Capito: “The best Latvala”

He was at the head of Rally of Finland from the first to the last special, and above all resisted his teammate in a very good way Sébastien Ogier, reigning world champion and outgoing winner. He never broke down, even on the penultimate day, when his car played tricks on him. This victory, his third this season, is certainly the most successful of all those won by Jari-Matti Latvala during his career. The VW Motorsport driver impressed many observers, much to the delight of his boss, Jost Capito.

“He is the best Jari-Matti Latvala we have ever seen, with a whole new attitude of approach, being focused but relaxed at the same time, admitted the latter to the official website of the WRC. When he was driving, he was in his bubble and only his teammate Sébastien Ogier was able to compete with him until the end. From the start he was the fastest and he deserved his victory. We have seen it gain momentum. Last year, he lacked testing and had to get used to the Polo on the various rallies. We expected him to get stronger. It is now performing at the level we expected it to. »

It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to shake his stablemate Sébastien Ogier, who still has a 44-point lead in the championship.
