WRC – Julien Maurin to conquer the WRC2 title

Julien Maurin takes the next step after his two French Rally Champion titles. The Frenchman will aim for the coronation next year in WRC2 by entering seven events in the second category of the World Championship. The French driver has already tested himself at this level this year, even leading the category in Germany before suffering a puncture and taking 2nd place in Catalonia (Spain).

The Emap Motors driver will not take long to embark on his new program sincehe will be at the start of Rally Monte Carlo from January 21 to 25 at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta RRC. “We have proven ourselves in France and now we want to try to do the same thing at the next level”, commented Julien Maurin. “WRC2 is reserved for private drivers and that fits well with our philosophy. There is a real mix in the events, with asphalt and dirt, which suits me well. The program is interesting and the level is increasingly high: as a competitor, it will be a great challenge... We know the Ford Fiesta well, we have more experience and an excellent team, so we have what it takes to shine . This is why we are ambitious! »

Despite high goals, Julien Maurin gives himself time to learn and prefers to focus on regularity rather than taking risks. “ At this level, you often have to drive at 110%, but also sometimes know how to manage”, underlined the double French champion. ?The Championship will be long and one of the keys to winning will be to find the right compromise between speed and endurance. In the world stage, are the stages longer, more difficult, more demanding? The Monte-Carlo is a bit like this. Besides, we are not aiming for victory at all costs for this first rally. We want to go to the end in order to score big points. Ambition should not come at the expense of humility. We're expecting a big battle! »
