Chris Meeke regained the advantage over Jari-Matti Latvala at the end of the first passage of the 2nd stage of Rally from Australia. The Citroën driver opted for soft tires and returned to service with a lead of 2"3 over the Volkswagen, whereas he was 2 seconds behind the Finn the day before. The Northern Irishman made the difference in the 50km of Nambucca (SS9).
Sébastien Ogier remains in contact with only 3"9 behind the leader. The double world champion is still ahead of his teammate Andreas Mikkelsen. It is now Hayden Paddon who completes the top five, the pilot Hyundai having been the fastest this morning by winning both special stages.
Behind Ott Tänak in 6th place, Dani sordo fell to 7th place in front of his teammate Thierry Neuville. The Hyundai drivers lost time in Nambucca as the Spaniard was disrupted by brake problems.
Nasser Al-Attiyah retains the lead in WRC2 by occupying 10th place in the general classification behind Elfyn Evans. The Qatari is still ahead Yuriy Protasov et Abdulaziz Al Kuwari.
