Chris Meeke regained the advantage over Jari-Matti Latvala at the end of the first passage of the 2nd stage of Rally from Australia. The Citroën driver opted for soft tires and returned to service with a lead of 2"3 over the Volkswagen, whereas he was 2 seconds behind the Finn the day before. The Northern Irishman made the difference in the 50km of Nambucca (SS9).

Sébastien Ogier remains in contact with only 3"9 behind the leader. The double world champion is still ahead of his teammate Andreas Mikkelsen. It is now Hayden Paddon qui complète le top cinq, le pilote Hyundai s’étant montré le plus rapide ce matin en remportant les deux spéciales.

Behind Ott Tänak in 6th place, Dani sordo fell to 7th place in front of his teammate Thierry Neuville. The Hyundai drivers lost time in Nambucca as the Spaniard was disrupted by brake problems.
