WRC: the arrival of new manufacturers is becoming clearer

If tails, Mikko Hirvonen and Sébastien Loeb raise the colors of Ford and Citroën high in the World Rally Championship, on the other hand, we are working to attract new manufacturers. Neil Duncanson, the director of North One Television, the company responsible for promoting the WRC for the next 10 years, has confirmed that two new brands should soon make their debut. “ I think one or two [builders] will join us. I don?t want more than four, because if there are more, they won?t be able to win them all ", did he declare.

Although Duncanson did not mention any names, several manufacturers regularly come up in discussions. Thus, Volkswagen, already engaged in rally-raid, and Fiat, which through Abarth is already present in IRC, are the most serious avenues. These teams would take advantage of the new regulations, which will come into force in 2011, to take the plunge after possibly carrying out some work at the end of the 2010 season. From this date, the World Rally Cars will be replaced by 1600 turbos... unless the Super 2000s finally take over. (see elsewhere).
