WRC – Latvala and Sordo threatened by Ogier in Spain

Jari-Matti Latvala still occupies the head of the Rally of Spain at the end of the first passage of the gravel specials of the last stage. His position as opener proved advantageous even if he had to clean the road, his pursuers being hampered by a thick cloud of dust despite the gap of 3 minutes between each car. The Finn now has an 11-second lead over Dani Sordo, but it is the comeback of Sébastien Ogier that concerns the leader. The new world champion WRC returned to just 14 seconds from the lead of the race while he was 46 seconds behind at the start of the stage. In any case, the Citroën driver does not seem able to compete.

His teammate Mikko Hirvonen moved up to 4th place taking advantage of the misfortunes of Thierry Neuville. The Qatar WRT driver lost more than a minute due to a puncture which also affected his differential. The Belgian now completes the top five with 16 seconds ahead of Evgeny Novikov. Mads Ostberg still occupies 7th place despite good times achieved this morning on gravel. Martin Prokop maintains 8th position ahead of Hayden Paddon. Robert Kubica still dominates WRC2 and is one step closer to the title. Note the very good performances of Andreas Mikkelsen who achieved the first two scratches. The Norwegian wants to showcase himself after starting again in Rally 2.

The second passage of the specials will be contested from 12:57 p.m. Click on this link to watch the videos of the Rally of Spain.
